Poll Shows Public Wants Medicare for All

A New York Times/CBS News survey last week shows that the people in the U.S. do want guaranteed insurance for all, even if the poll didn’t ask specifically about single-payer. It was an offer of a very strong public option. While I don’t believe a public option would work and I believe that single-payer is the only viable long-term option, this poll is a great indication of the desire of people for something far more through than Obama/Baucus, etc… are offering.

Here is the question from the poll:

“Would you favor or oppose the government offering everyone a government-administered health insurance plan like Medicare that would compete with private health insurance plans?”

65% percent of respondents said yes.

here is a full analysis of the poll by Black Agenda Report executive editor Glen Ford.
